Basketball Court Design: The W Club
September 9, 2023, was a revolutionary day for women's basketball in Canada. I was awarded by the WNBA and NBA Canada to pioneer the design of Canada's inaugural outdoor WNBA court, collaborating with MilkUP Ontario, WNBA, NBA Canada, and Buckets and Borders.
The W Club is a collection of iconic women’s basketball moments that seamlessly integrate player performance and artistic expression, ultimately celebrating women’s basketball culture and bringing people together through the game. Our goal was to capture the love and excitement of Toronto basketball fans in hopes that the WNBA would expand to Canada—looks like our plan worked! The design garnered recognition from esteemed media outlets such as CTV News, TSN, The Toronto Star, and an interview on Amazon Prime: The Power Hour with Rennae Stubbs.
My role as the creative lead was to guide a team to seamlessly translate the 2D design into a dynamic 3D space, including the basketball court design, branding, and architectural drawings.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better reception to the first WNBA game in Canada from local fans, partners and the larger basketball community and we’re thrilled to team up with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario on this legacy project in celebration of women’s basketball in the country. This court symbolizes the passion and enthusiasm for the basketball across Canada and we can’t wait to see Rivertowne’s community members utilize this court for years to come." — Leah MacNab, Senior Vice-President, NBA Canada
"The amazing upgrade to this popular basketball court provides an exciting new space for Rivertowne community youth and others to enjoy playing the game while encouraging young girls and women to join the game and to be proud of their ongoing contributions to the sport." — Paula Fletcher, Toronto City Councillor
"I would like to thank Councillor Paula Fletcher and team, as well as the team from the City and the partners for their work in bringing this breathtaking design to life.” — Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto
