Branding: Adidas Samba
Despite its existence since the 1950s, Adidas Sambas remains a classic and one of Adidas’ all-time best sellers —but why the name “Sambas”? Originally designed in 1949 for European footballers, the Sambas were reinvented in 1950 for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, hence the name “Samba,” paying homage to the Brazilian dance and music genre, highlighting the World Cup host. In this conceptual project for Adidas, I reimagined the iconic Samba sneakers to capture the rhythm and energy of the Samba dance and celebrate the sneaker legacy through bold visuals and nostalgic design elements. My design approach and storytelling abilities garnered attention from Adidas, resulting in a social media collaboration where I was gifted two pairs of Sambas.
